The Salvatore Ferragamo name is legendary in the world of fashion. For more than 80 years, this celebrated Italian brand has become the definition of style and elegance for generations of the rich and famous. Movie stars like Greta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe traveled to Ferragamo’s Florence, Italy studio to personally order extraordinary and original shoes from the master himself.

After Salvatore’s death in 1960, the brand not only kept its prestige and reputation as a shoemaker to the stars, it also grew to encompass clothing, bags, scarves, ties and fragrances. Under the careful guidance of Salvatore’s wife Wanda and their six children, the Ferragamo brand became synonymous with luxury and good taste throughout the world. As the brand grew in stature, it was almost inevitable that it would soon include fine timepieces as well.

The first Salvatore Ferragamo timepiece, the signature 2007 men’s Salvatore model, made its debut at Baselworld in 2008. This refined and sophisticated watch took the watch world by storm by paying tribute to the brand’s tradition of craftsmanship and luxurious detailing.
A new line of luxury watches was born and quickly grew to include the iconic F-80, Gancino and Vara models. These distinctive watches, each interpreting different symbols of the Ferragamo world, gained a loyal following with their original juxtaposition of exciting and different materials.

As far back as the 1930’s Salvatore Ferragamo had gained a reputation for using new and different materials to create wildly original shoes. Now, with ten unique and original timepiece collections, the brand has renewed itself again by returning to its creative roots.
The bold F-80 Chronograph combines a titanium case, a ceramic top ring and a rubber or crocodile print leather strap to create a harmonious, yet experimental look that is pure Ferragamo. The elegant Gancino Soirée and Sport Collections pay homage to the distinctive “Gancino” clasp that now adorns a multitude of Ferragamo accessories and articles of clothing.

The elegant Renaissance Collection draws its inspiration from the decorative gros-grain ribbon that defined the Vara, one of Ferragamo’s most famous shoes.
Like everything Maison Ferragamo creates, a Salvatore Ferragamo timepiece makes an extraordinary statement on your wrist. The creative use of color and precious stones in the woman’s Renaissance line is pure Ferragamo. The delicate guilloché dial of the Grande Maison is as distinctive as the elegant bow that defines Ferragamo’s most famous shoe.
Salvatore Ferragamo timepieces are as exclusive as the original hand-made shoes that made the brand famous. They are much more accessible however. You no longer have to travel to Florence to find one of these extraordinary watches. They are distributed in over 50 countries worldwide and are available at selected Salvatore Ferragamo Boutiques and at authorized watch dealers.

But a year and a half before, Mr. Ferragamo had insisted that their daughter Fiamma, the eldest child, who was then 16, come to work with him. Last week she watched workmen at Saks Fifth Avenue set up an exhibition celebrating the store's 50-year association with her family. Fiamma, now 44, recalled how her father said she must learn the business "because I was the oldest.
